. The Rwaïs, poets, singers

Gnawa

Arabic speakers in the imperial cities, they are mainly Berber in Agadir and its region. Coming together around certain shrines, including that of Sidi Boujmaa Agnaou in Agadir Oufella they celebrate the rhythms of drums and cymbals, rites in which invocations mingle, dance and trance. These traditional celebrations also take place in the hinterland during "moussems" and events related to agricultural cycles.
