Pottery
Agadir is a very rich city with its antique tradition of pottery. Ceramics or pottery, with all the dishes, plates, salad bowls, bowls, and vases that you find, it is the whole of your kitchen that you can reequip. Jewelry
Souss region has developed a real know-how when it comes to jewelry mainly in silver. In Tiznit, the capital, you find a multitude of small workshops around the large city square. If silver, amber, coral, and divided enamels dominate, you will also find recently made silver filigree jewelry coming from Essaouira. Some of the jewelers have brought up to date the traditional art of Berber jewelry and created more convenient pieces to wear in Europe. On Tuesday and Thursday a souk is organized in order to animate this quiet town.
Fibula
The fibula, or Tazerzit in Berber, is the most characteristic jewelry of the region. It is a Crenated triangular tongue around which you can turn an open ring. Fibulas are joined up together by a chain in two parts, usually surrounding an amber ball or an enameled pendant. They are always in big shapes (30 cm) which make their usage more decorative, but you can also find small one used as brooches.
Head jewelry
Head jewelry is still wide spread in Souss region. They are usually enameled plates maintained by a whole combination of chains and crochet hooks. We can also find material or leather headbands ornated with silver plates in cone, drop, ring, shell, amber, or in a carnelian ball shape.
Earrings, bracelets, and rings
Earrings of a high importance are mainly in silver ornated with carving and conical rings. One or two applications of divided enamel come to enrich the whole. Tiznit bracelets are usually very large and closed by a hinge. They are always worn in pairs and decorated with niello and enameled plates. Exceptionally, you will probably find beautiful bracelets ornated with cones or prisms with green, yellow, and pale blue enamels. The rings are less common; they are enameled in green and yellow and usually ornated by glass cat or a cone and may be with a silver slab chiseled by geometric motifs. you can also wear these rings on your hear by fixing them by headband or a pendant.
Fine leather craft
Leather work is a great local tradition. With the passing centuries, craftsmen have developed a know-how whose reputation has went beyond the kingdom borders. With plenty of patience and fineness, they make fancy and wonderful leather goods
Babouches
Appreciated by men and women, and indissociable from the traditional customs of the region, babouches or ‘balgha’ continue to make the craftsmen’s happy days. Babouches are a real accessory for women beauty. It is the ‘cherbil” which can be covered with velvet and embroidered with golden, silver or silk thread. The city dwellers wear it with the djellaba or during ceremonies. In Amazigh countries, Cherbils are embroidered with geometric motifs and ornated with mozounes or fine pearls.
